On 22nd and 23rd of February 2019, Uganda Cooperative Alliance in Partnership with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation organized the Second Cooperatives Debate where over 15 Ugandan Universities participated and 2 Cooperative Colleges from Kigumba and Tororo.
The debate which was covered live on T.V & Radio was conducted under the “theme Cooperative Education and Practice a missing link in realizing inclusive sustainable development in East African Region”.
General Secretary CPA Ivan Asiimwe hailed the participating students and encouraged them to promote cooperatives in the Country as a way to ensure inclusive sustainable development in East Africa. The 2nd and 3rd runner ups for the competition won T.V sets with Books and T.shirts while the overall winner received 1million Ugandan Shillings Cheque.
The Competition was organized by the Uganda Cooperative Alliance in Partnership with UBC so as to promote cooperative Education in higher institutions of learning. In 2017 a similar competition was organized within secondary schools which resulted in an MOU between UCA and National Curriculum Development Centre NCDC aimed at introducing cooperative Education in Secondary Schools. This is also in line with the 5th Cooperative principle; Education Training and Information.
