Uganda Local Government Association –ULGA held its 3rd Local Economic Development (LED) Conference under the theme Transforming Communities for Increased Income and Local Development: Cooperatives as an engine for Local Economic Development. The purpose for the conference was to highlight how cooperatives and regional forums as viable social economic development infrastructure for LED and economic development.
The President of the association Mr. George Mutabazi was impressed with the role of cooperatives in fully engaging the community to bring about social economic transformation at local level.He promised to work closely with Uganda Cooperative Alliance in future so that local Government can have an effective Local Economic Development.
In his presentation the General Secretary, Uganda Cooperative Alliance show cased how Cooperatives globally have brought about Economic Development pointing at cooperatives in the Europe and Asia.
In attendance were the local Government officials from across the country, UNCDF, VGN International IDEAL among others.
